Method
Archival data from 37 middle class infant-mother dyads were selected from a previous study done at a Canadian university (Pederson, Gleason, Moran, and Bento, 1998).
Adult attachment representations were assessed using the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI), while sensitivity was scored using the Maternal Behavior Q-Set (MBQS). Infant security was assessed by the Strange Situation (SS) and Attachment Behavior Q-Set. RF was measured using the RF Scale (RFS), an 11-point scale that measures an individual’s ability to reflect on people’s mental states and motivations. Scores range from “Rejection of RF” to “Exceptional RF.”
