Family Environment Project

Just a few short weeks ago we hit our half way point in data collection and, having almost completed our third year of this five year project, we are well on our way to completion! It took us over a year of preparations, hiring, equipment purchases, and turning all of our paper questionnaires into self-directed computer questionnaires, before we could run a single family through the protocol so we are proud that in 1.5 years we made such an achievement.

Not to be confused with another hardworking group with four initials, our team also works come rain, snow or sleet, AND we are open weekends, nights and holidays. To make our project a success, our team works tirelessly to recruit, schedule, and run the families needed and when that is all done, they spend time entering, coding, and analyzing the data. In order to accomplish all of this, without our staff collapsing from exhaustion, we have enlisted the help of undergraduate research assistants (RAs). The RAs conduct all of the Random Digit Dialing (RDD) recruitment procedures under the supervision of our staff. We also recruit advanced RAs to help run families, enter data, and do observational coding. All of us working together prove that it takes more than a good idea to make a project successful.
