FTRG Core Values*

Integrity First

Integrity is a character trait. It is the willingness to do what is right even when no one is looking. It is the “moral compass,” the inner voice, the voice of self-control, and the basis for the trust imperative in any collective endeavor.

Service Before Self

Service before self tells us that service to the research and our sponsors takes precedence over personal desires. At the very least it includes the following behaviors:

Excellence in All We Do

“Excellence in all we do” directs us to develop a sustained passion for continuous improvement and innovation that will propel the FTRG into a long-term, upward spiral of scientific gains and exceptional performance.

Wherever your role in the FTRG, this is your basic guide to the Core Values of our research group.

The Core Values were delineated by the US Air Force for all members of the Air Force family, including contractors. Since 1997, the FTRG has been a research partner with the USAF. The AF’s explicit core values matched the implicit values on which the FTRG was founded. Thus, we now overtly subscribe to these core values not only because of this important partnership but also because they define what we believe to be the core qualities necessary for consistently excellent scientific research.

The Core Values represent more than a set of standards. They remind us what it takes to get the research mission done. They inspire us to do our very best at all times. They are the common bond that unifies our group and ties us to the great scientists and public servants of the past.

Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. These are the core values of the FTRG (and the US Air Force). We hope they inspire you as they do us — to consistently reach for our best.
