Michael's research interests include the following: (1) Cognitive, affective, and psychophysiological mechanisms of dysfunctional discipline strategies in parents of toddlers; (2) Parenting X child temperament interactions in the development of early externalizing problems; (3) Environment-biology transactions in the development of psychopathology and physical health; (4) Stability and change in couples’ physical aggression; and (5) Prevention of early externalizing problems.
