In 2005, I graduated from Ithaca College with a B.A. in psychology and sociology. While attending Ithaca, I was part of the Positive Psychology Research Team in which we studied Regulatory Focus Theory. Additionally, I conducted independent sociological research in gathering data on the long-term effects of divorce on children. In doing so, my interest in studying family interaction strengthened and thus led me to pursue my doctorate in clinical psychology. After graduation, I returned to Long Island and spent two years working with individuals who have sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI). As Assistant Director of our educationally-based TBI day program, I was responsible for developing and teaching several courses relating to the brain, memory, self-awareness, and psychological disorders.
I joined FTRG in August 2007 and am honored to be part of a remarkable research group and to be surrounded by such talented and motivated individuals. I am excited to embark on this next stage in my life as I pursue my doctorate. My broad research interests include parent-child interaction, how families cope with major stressors (i.e. divorce, death of a parent), and the underlying processes related to family communication and interaction.
