Bella Mironovna Guner, Ph.D.

I received my Ph.D. in Human Development from the University of Maryland in 2008, and went on to join the FTRG as a post-doctoral research associate in the summer of 2009. My primary interests include determining which factors are associated with the development of symptoms of psychopathology in children and adolescents. My goal is to help bring to light the underlying processes that put young individuals at risk for future psychological impairments. As a first step in this endeavor, I examined the impact of adolescent parenting on problem behavior in toddlers for my dissertation. I will continue to expand on this line of research with the work on children’s exposure to familial violence that is being conducted at the FTRG.
